Artist's Statement

I have spent many years wandering in the arts.  My "travels" have led me toward creative experiences (both positive and negative), allowed me to experiment in exciting media, opened my eyes to unlimited artistic opportunities and taught me that dedicated hard work brings personal fulfillment.  

I felt I had no true direction until I completed my first photography course (I was a Grandmother by this time). Now my new tools were light, film and camera.  I completed every course my local community college had to offer.  I could now envision my destination... to find a way to combine my artistic training (high school and college art classes) with my new photography knowledge.  

I spent many years refining my photography skills and as my confidence evolved my personal style found a way to present itself.  By adding layers of colored pencil and black marker to the surface of my black and white photographs each became a unique artwork, many requiring as much as 20 hours of hand work.  Completed works allow me to present my chosen themes in vibrant, extravagant or subtle color combinations and detail of my selection.  

I find great satisfaction in my artwork and believe that the future will offer me new destinations and opportunities for my artistic journey.....  I look forward to the adventure of discovery and sharing the adventure with you.     Carolyn
